How to find the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Hilton Head vacation home:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Updated island condo with two pools, tennis, & game room - walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If not, email the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
