Hilton Head rental home booking tips:
When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Hilton Head rental:
- To start, have your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Nicely Appointed Two Bedroom Villa with Lagoon Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
