Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Nicely Appointed Two Bedroom Villa with Lagoon Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
