Finding the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right Hilton Head rental:

  • First, have your group agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 6 Beachside - 4 Bedroom Private Home Close to South Beach Marina in Sea Pines! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
