Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking your Hilton Head vacation home:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Pet Friendly 4 bedroom\/4 bathroom townhouse in Sea Pines, multi-family rental has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
