Tips and Tricks to get the very best Hilton Head rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Book your Hilton Head rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 2 Oyster Catcher - 4Br Sea Pines Home Just 2 Minute Walk to the Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
