Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- To find the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the perfect rental in Hilton Head:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. 300 steps to the beach! - Pet Friendly Ranch Style House North Forest Beach has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
