Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the perfect rental home:
- First, have your group select the best dates and a spending budget.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
