Finding the best vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your Hilton Head vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Sea Pines Home w\/ Private Pool, Family-Friendly Spaces - Near Beach & Golf has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
