Our top Hilton Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Dog-friendly ocean view oasis with pool, epic views, & 3-tier outdoor living has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you long to visit, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
