Our top Hilton Head rental home booking tips:

When to book a Hilton Head rental & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental home in Hilton Head:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Renovated spacious home with private pool & large furnished backyard has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
