Booking the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and picking the perfect Hilton Head rental home:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Third floor Penthouse with wonderful ocean views! - *Pool heated seasonally* has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
