How to get the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best vacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. New to the rental market, 4th row home! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
