Finding the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Waterfront Condo with Shared Pools, Hot Tubs, Private Balconies, and Ocean Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you crave, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
