Tips to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Waterfront Condo with Shared Pools, Hot Tubs, Private Balconies, and Ocean Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
