Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental & When to go:
- To book the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the perfectvacation home:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Waterfront Getaway with Pools, Hot Tub, and Views of the Atlantic Ocean has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
