Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Fantastic Vacation Condo Close to Beach w\/Free WiFi, AC, W\/D, Shared Pool\/Tennis has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. message the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
