Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- To find the best value, change your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Quiet Hilton Head Getaway with WiFi, Pool, Hot Tub, & Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
