Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking your Hilton Head rental home:

  • First, have your family commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Large Two Bedroom Villa with Ocean Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
