How to book the best rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserve your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book the rightrental home:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Steps from the beach and Dunes House Restaurant! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
