Rental home booking tips:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- To find the best value, try shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking yourvacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 4th-floor villa with balcony, beach access, outdoor pool, & grills has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
