Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- To book the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Comfortable villa with pool, hot tub, lagoon view & nearby beach access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, email the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
