Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Large Sprawling Home Very Close to the Beach and Activities! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
