How to find the best vacation home experience:

When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:

  • To get the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 16 Singleton Shores: Ocean & Marsh Views
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
