Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and pick the right Hilton Head vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Dog-friendly home with private pool, WiFi, W\/D & central AC - snowbird-friendly has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
