Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful Oceanfront Home with Large Private Pool! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
