Tips to get the very best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your family agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 2 Min Walk 2 Beach, Pvt Heated Pool, SPA, Putting Green, Bikes, Kayak, Sun Deck has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
