Our top Rental booking tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To get the best value, change your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the right Hilton Head rental:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Fabulous ocean view from this top floor villa has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
