Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental in Hilton Head:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Bright, newly-remodeled, dog-friendly beach house w\/ a private pool & hot tub has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
