Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Find your best deal:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Palatial Home Just a Short Walk to the Beach! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you long to visit, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
