Tricks and tips to get the optimal Hilton Head rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Close to beach, pickleball, tennis & golf with private pool, & hot tub has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
