Getting the best Hilton Head rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your search:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 12 Haul Away - 5 Bedroom - Private Pool, Lagoon View Short Walk to the Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
