Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Spring Escape: Value for Golf\/Tennis\/Pickleball, Family Getaways in best Locale! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
