Booking the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by having your group choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Close to the Beach! 3 Bed 3 Bath Townhouse with free tennis\/pickleball! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
