Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 5th Row, Sea Pines-South Beach, Private Pool, Private Path to Beach, 4 EnSuites has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
