Booking the best Hilton Head rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Completely Updated Two Bedroom Villa with Large Open Concept! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
