Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Waterfront condo with amazing views, on-site pool, hot tub, & gym has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
