Booking the best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Book your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental:
- First, have your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront condo with pools, hot tubs, WiFi, washer\/dryer, & central A\/C has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
