Strategies to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking your prefect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Bright and cozy condo near the beach with a pool, AC, & a private washer\/dryer has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
