Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Get the best value:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Booking in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Spacious Home - Private Pool & Big Deck with Gas Grill, Free WiFi has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
