How to find the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the perfect Hilton Head rental:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanview Condo with WiFi, Hot Tub, Pools, Full Kitchen, & Nearby Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
