Finding the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Exquisitely updated with Incredible views! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, email the host before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
