Rental home tips and tricks:
Find your perfect rental:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the Hilton Head area:
- First, have your family select a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Modern condo with private patio - close to golf, shops & dining has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If not, call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:

- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
