Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by having your group choose date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful Golf Front Villa! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
