Tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Nice Two Bedroom Villa Located on the George Fazio Golf Course! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
