Strategies to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking your Hilton Head rental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Gorgeous home with new pool in Sea Pines-Short walk to Harbourtown Golf Links has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
