Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Luxurious Oceanfront House w\/Free WiFi, Private Gas Grill & Heated Outdoor Pool has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
