Tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your Hilton Head rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental home:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Dreamy island oasis with private pool, grill & fast WiFi - beach access nearby has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
