How to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To book the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Select dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Large Three Bedroom Villa Steps from the Pool! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
