Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Modern Condo with Shared Pool and Hot Tub, Lagoon View, and Nearby Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If not, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local spots.
