Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:

When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To find the largest rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Fantastic Ocean View ! Free Pickle Ball and Tennis every day has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
