Tricks and tips to get the optimal Hilton Head rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:
- To start, have your family select vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Kitchen updated,Rates include cleaning has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
